The MLS Coach Rate my Team Surgery

With all teams bar, FC Dallas and Colorado Rapids not playing this weekend and it being a Friday night kick-off. We thought we would get this article out to our reader's early. Again, this week, I will be putting forward my team for review.

The aim is to highlight some of the key concerns we have faced in constructing their squads, which hopefully will chime with other MLS Fantasy managers’ issues.

In addition, we want the comment section to provide a useful opportunity for you to submit your own RMTs. Please also be helpful to those asking for advice. The key to successful rating of teams is to give advice as well.

I have drawn the first straw to start off this series with my fixture-led initial MLS Fantasy squad.

My Team:

Robles (RBNY), Diop (LAG)

Perrinelle (RBNY), Jungwirth (SJE), Zavaleta (TOR), Zizzo (RBNY), Garza (ATL)

Olum (POR), Wallace (NYCFC), Moralez (NYCFC), Valeri (POR), Michael Azira (COR)

O. Kamara (COL), Adi (POR), Raheem Edwards (TOR)

Team Value: $100.7m

KEY ISSUES:

Fixtures:

With all but two MLS franchises taking part in this weekends action, I had food for thought this week when choosing my MLS Fantasy line-up. I decided to stick with Luis Robles in goal this week as he did so well for my during last week's Bye week. For the same reason, Damien Perrinelle and Sal Zizzo, retain their respective representation in my defensive line.

This time around, they are going partnered with Florian Jungwirth of San Jose Earthquakes and Eriq Zavaleta of Toronto FC. I went with Zavaleta as, Toronto FC play host to Sporting Kansas City and I am expecting bonus points for a TFC clean-sheet. I went with Florian Jungwirth as, San Jose go away to New York City and even though there may not be clean-sheets for either side, there will be chances for points from CBI's.

In midfield, joining my Portland Timber's coverage, who did well for me last week are: Rodney Wallace and Max Moralez of NYCFC. The reason for doubling up on NYCFC player's is simple, because up until their Bye week last week, Maxi Moralez and Ross Wallace had been combining well in the New York City FC midfield and were making for quite the partnership.

Questions: Am I relying too much on fixtures? Is tripling up on New York Red Bulls too much? Am I foolish for ignoring Atlanta United’s excellent early form?

Value:

Value this week is coming from my bench. My three value picks this week are: Clement Diop, $4.0 playing for LA Galaxy. Greg Garza, $5.7 playing for Atlanta United and Raheem Edwards, $4.0 playing for Toronto FC. This allows me to go heavy on the more expensive options placed throughout my MLS Fantasy side and allows me to own players such as: Diego Valeri, Fanendo Adi and Max Moralez.

Questions: Have I selected the best midfielders? Have I got the right defenders in place? Are there any 4.0 defenders I should consider?

Captain:

Finally, in terms of my captain option. Since I have invested, both in Heavy Hitters and differential / budget options throughout my MLS Fantasy team, this has allowed me to have 5, yes 5 potential captains this weekend. Rodney Wallace and Max Moralez are both captain options from NYCFC. While, over in Portland, the duo of Diego Valeri and Fanendo Adi are also considerations.

The outside pick this week, is Ola Kamara for Columbus Crew. My thinking behind this was again fixtures. All three sides play sides where they could potentially come away with all three points. Portland Timbers face New England Revolution at home, as do NYCFC when they play San Jose Earthquakes, as do Columbus Crew who host Orlando City SC.

For now, the captains armband is on Fanendo Adi, but don;t be surprised come Friday night, it is placed on one of the other four players mentioned in this section.

Questions: Do I have too many captaincy choices this week? Should I try a differential captain in Ola Kamara?
